According to Audubon.org, Barred Owls and all other owls have the super power of silent flight.  Owls fly silently because their wing feathers have  leading edges shaped like a comb and  trailing edges with fringe.  This feather adaptation allows air to funnel smoothly over the wing and dampen sound.  An owl’s enormous wings, relative to its body size, also provide greater lift and enable the owl to fly slowly—as low as two miles per hour.  There is nothing but complete silence before the deadly pounce!
